French-English Bilingual Preschool Admissions Process The goal of the admissions process is to establish an exchange of information and expectations between the school and interested families. The process consists of the following steps: 1) Parent Information Nights Attendance at these presentations is optional but highly recommended. They are held 3-4 times in the evening throughout the school year. They provide a forum for prospective families to see the school environment, learn about our program and to meet other parents who are interested in our school. These sessions are for parents only. A formal presentation is given followed by a question and answer period. 2) School Visits One or both parents visit the school without their child for a morning of observation. Parents are encouraged to attend for at least one hour or longer to get a good idea of what is offered and the overall "feeling" of our classroom environment. 3) Application Form Parents who wish to apply to the school submit an application form with a $25.00 application fee. Upon receipt of the form, parents are contacted by the school to schedule a parent/child visit. 4) Parent / Child Visit One or both parents return to the school with the child when the school is not in session. The visit lasts between 30-45 minutes. The objective of the visit is twofold: a) to determine if the family and school are a good match for each other based on shared expectations and goals for the preschool experience and b) to get a cursory sense of the child by observing him/her interacting with a teacher and playing in the classroom. Children are not formally accessed. NOTE: Special arrangements will be made for families who are applying from other countries or states and cannot attend the required school visit or parent/child visit within the standard timeframes. In these situations, the school will conduct admissions work by phone and/or email and can offer conditional acceptances based on holding a parent/child visit soon after the family relocates to the area. 5) Admission Decisions and Key Dates We strive to compose a class from the applicant pool based on three key criteria: linguistic mix, age, and gender. To begin school in September, children must be 3 years old as of September 1st. January admissions are possible for children turning 3 years old between September and December. Children must be toilet trained before beginning school. Applications are accepted throughout the school year. Key Dates: Parents are notified of admission status on a modified rolling basis: $500.00 non-refundable holding deposit applied towards tuition is due within two weeks of admission notification. May 1st - Enrollment contract and two months prepaid tuition due. Tuition Information for School Year 2007 - 2008 Annual tuition 2007 - 2008: $8,600.00 Payment Options: Monthly or Annual Refund Policy: The $500.00 holding deposit is non-refundable. If a student is absent, withdrawn or dismissed from the program prior to the end of the school, the school shall retain the equivalent of two months tuition.
